My party is a party of 8. This is with 2 kids. Ages 14 and 12. We are going to Cancun on 8/26/10. We want to know this:
1.) Are there any big waves (boogie boarding maybe?) in Cancun?
2.)What are some locations that u strongly reccommend us going to? (And where are they?)
3.) Anything you strongly reccommend us taking?
4.) Restuarants?
5.) Any activities?
6.) And any other thing you think we should know.
ALL THIS IS EXTREMELEY HELPFUL. It will save me hours of looking on the internet..... Thanks! And if it helps, we are staying at the Fiesta Condesa Americana Hotel. THANKS!!!! much appreciated!!

1) no big waves on the east coast

2) wet and wild is a park close to the hotel zone where you are staying. The ruins are great but when my son came here with his friends at that age they got bored easily at these areas. Great when they get older but at that age there just old rocks.Expensive parks south of Cancun Xel Ha-see link (shel ha)and the famous Xcaret-see link (iscaret) Both parks are swimming oriented parks.Xcret has swim with the dolphins.see link(you must arrange this in advance). There are great snorkeling trips for the whole family in the ocean or at a beautiful cenote. A cenote is a natural fresh water sink hole in the jungle.

3)Do any of the above as to what your family likes.

4) all of your favorite hometown restaurants are here and again with your children's ages they will feel happier getting a big mac and it helps to eat comfort food if your feeling a little sick see link restaurants.Try to go a local restaurant and get the feel for the local taste sorry you won't really get the taste of Mexico here!!

5)see above

6)Sorry to say this but this is the hurricane season although the chance of a hurricane is slight tropical storms and rainy days are a certain. Bring rain jackets, ponchos and umbrellas and a good book or two.

8) your hotel will have activities for you and your family.

9) before you leave check with your travel agent about transportation from the airport to your hotel and back again. It should be a free service.Do not talk to anyone at the airport. Walk through and look for your hotel shuttle or your transportation shuttle they will hold a sign up

No need to bring your own water or soft drinks everything is sold here at the same prices why carry it. Bring sun sreen that is cheaper in the states. And a book!

Need more information contact me I live in Playa del Carmen(just south of Cancun) for 11 years

¡¡Hola y Bienvenidos a Mexico!!

No hang gliding but parachute and paragliding. The weather is hard to predict for tomorrow let alone next month. But it is the rainy season and the middle of hurricane season. The chances of a hurricane are slight but rain and a tropical storm are possible. It usualy rains for a short period in the morning or late afternoon.Bring some rain gear just in case and a good book or two.You may contact me direct closer to your departure date or if you need anymore information, feel fre.

I live in front of the ocean right here in cancun, mexico! and there is definietly no big waves so no boogi boarding as well!!

The strongest locations I recommend I mean the ones you can't miss while you are here are:

*Dolphin dicovery (swimming with dolphins is always fun!) go on to:

http://www.cancun.com/Tours/Dolphin_Swim_Nizuc/

*Xplor (This one of a kind park features four thrilling activities to be enjoyed as many times as you like. You can drive an amphibious vehicle along spectacular jungle paths and down underground tunnels and paddle a raft through breathtaking grottoe right in the middle of the riviera maya's heart!! go on to:

http://www.cancun.com/Tours/xplor/

*Xcaret (known as ''nature's sacred paradise'', Xcaret is one of the world's most famous eco-archaeological parks, YOU CAN'T MISS IT) go on to:

http://www.cancun.com/Tours/Xcaret/

You can also go to the most popular outdoor mall here located right in the center of the hotel zone. This mall is called "LA ISLA" there's also an aquarium and many other great daily activities and delicious resturants!! enjoy!

I recommend you buy your tours as earlier as possible!

1.There arent many big waves on the northern tip because it is somewhat sheltered by the Isla Mujeres however on eastern beaches the current and the wind can can produce more wavy conditions

2/5.http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g150807-Activities-Cancun_Yucatan_Peninsula.html this website has some pretty good attractions

3. Bring your own water and softdrinks

4. sorry but i cant help you when it comes to restraunts

6. If you go to any night clubs i would suggest coco bongo

1) there are a lot of waves in the beaches in and near the hotel district in cancun but they aren't very pleasant because they have a LOT of rocks on the beaches that makes it hard to get in the water.

2) i reccomend going to chichen itza..it's honestly really far but its really interesting if you're into history and architecture. playa del carmen is a really beautiful beach area (bring extra pesos for an umbrella and get there early) and try to get a ferry to cozumel or isla mujeres. xel-ha and xcaret and xplor are all fun parks to go to but they are pretty pricey for non-residents of mexico. about $70-102 per person (and that's not in pesos)

3) if you are an experienced driver (really experienced) i strongly reccomend to rent a car because at the end of the trip the bills for taxi fares are going to be huge. and if you plan on taking the bus, be prepared for sardine-like seating and no air conditioning, let alone random bus stops and a lot of walking. take snack food and pack it into your checked bag or any carry-on bag because grocery shopping there is kind of tough thing for people who don't understand spanish. that way, you always have something to take to the beach or wherever else you may go. MOST IMPORTANTLY bring one or 2 backpacks just in case you need to carry anything because beach bags are extremely uncomfortable to carry around when they are full. bring a small to medium sized cooler because that will save you big-time at the beach (if not, just buy a styrofoam one from oxxo) and if you don't speak spanish you might want to bring a spanish-englishdictionary just in case.

4) restaurants..one thing. stick with the ones you know. food poisoning in random pueblos is never fun.

5) xel-ha, xcaret, and xplor are all like waterparks that are really cool and completely natural. there are underground rivers, huge swimmable aquariums and other activities. also try and stop by some cenotes..natural pools. you'll see them on the maps or just ask your concierge. also if you go to playa del carmen, ask the people around the dock for the man with the "Rubi" boat. he and his partner are wonderful for snorkeling adventures. its cheap, interactive, personal and totally worth it. our price for a family of 4 was roughly 15 usd per person.

6) knowing spanish is almost entirely quintessential but if you don't, it's not that big of a deal because cancun lives off of tourism so they're used to english speakers. be patient with them if they don't understand. put yourself in their shoes and take a deep breath. also, when going shopping, don't pay the sticker price (at the markets, not the supermarkets) try to haggle with the prices. the people of mexico are extremely friendly and are willing to help with any of your needs. but remember if you are going to drive, be calm very watchful and bring a map or prefferably a GPS device.

have fun on your trip. cancun in amazing.
